Female labour force participation
Delhi records the lowest female labour force participation in the country at 13.1 per cent, five times below Sikkim's 66.7. Income and participation do not move together across states.
Policy implication
Participation measured on usual status counts unpaid family labour on a farm and does not count housework. Much of the state-to-state range is a measurement boundary, and reading it as a preference is how the number gets misused.
