Sikkim produces Rs 7,63,749 per person and Goa Rs 7,37,738, against Rs 76,374 in Bihar and Rs 1,26,304 in Uttar Pradesh. Eleven of the 32 states and territories with a figure are under Rs 2 lakh per person. Bihar grew 26 per cent in two years at current prices and Goa 36 per cent.
Policy implication Output per head counts what is produced inside a state, not what its residents earn or keep. Sikkim, Goa, Delhi and Chandigarh are small economies and city-states, so their figures say little about the average household. The 2024-25 figure is an estimate that states revise, and Nagaland and Ladakh have none for the year.
