In Chandigarh 99.5% of women workers are outside agriculture and in Delhi 99.3%, against 21.9% in Rajasthan, 22.7% in Himachal Pradesh and 24.4% in Jharkhand. For India the figure is 40.2%: 59.8% of women workers are in agriculture, forestry or fishing.
Policy implication Counting a woman as a worker includes unpaid work on the family farm, so a low share outside agriculture often means work that carries no wage rather than no work. PLFS was redesigned for 2025, so these figures are not a strict continuation of earlier rounds.
