Tripura registered 14.80 human trafficking cases per 10 lakh people (62 cases, up from 18 in 2023) and Telangana 11.04 (423 cases, the most of any state), against 1.52 for India. Arunachal Pradesh is at 5.06 from 8 cases. Seven states and territories registered none, and Assam, West Bengal and Jharkhand, named on the older map, are below 3.
Policy implication These are registrations by police anti-trafficking units, so a high figure can mean more units actively filing cases rather than more trafficking, and a zero is not proof of none. Fifteen states and territories have fewer than 10 cases, where one case moves the rate a long way. The older map covered 2022, and its ranking has changed.
