Women did 58 per cent of the persondays of work under MGNREGA in 2024-25. Kerala (89 per cent), Puducherry (88), Tamil Nadu (86), Goa (76) and Rajasthan (70) are highest, and Jammu and Kashmir (33), Uttar Pradesh (42), Madhya Pradesh (44) and Maharashtra (45) lowest. Jammu and Kashmir is the only state at the Act's one-third floor.
Policy implication A high share can mean women have good access to the work, or that men have better-paid options elsewhere and leave the scheme to women, and the table cannot tell the two apart. West Bengal ran no MGNREGA work in 2024-25 because no Labour Budget was approved, and Lakshadweep recorded none, so both are grey. Shares are printed in whole per cent.
